Well shit
The title says it all. We entered the weekend with the slim chance of finishing in 11th, but that is now gone. Our seniors last full home weekend is gone, this final season in the real WCHA is nearing gone. On the seniors note, I hope the parents had a good weekend, it's too bad we couldn't get a split with them here. Major kudos to UNO, we were in it for a majority of the weekend but UNO was unrelenting. As they should be, they still have a shot at first place and I applaud them for not taking us too lightly. Looking ahead, we play UA_ in two weeks (Squarebanks for Friday and The Sully for Saturday night) and then Denver the following week in a Friday night, Sunday afternoon schedule (Times are 5:37 pm AKST and 10:07 am AKST).

Game Day 2/16/2013
Damn it in a beautiful day, the clouds have now rolled in but damn I was too tired to get out and enjoy the sunshine. Anyways, looking at the standings we are all but guaranteed last place unless we win out and Bemidji losses out. Even for an optimist like me, it's over. Might as well enjoy ourselves right? Warning NSFW or Not Safe for little Kids who are Sponges:
• Junior Jordan Kwas has five Power Play goals, nobody else has more than one this season
• He also needs only one more goal for ten on the season
• Sophomore Kory Roy has yet to register his first collegiate goal, 0-9-9 in 48 GP
• Needs to see action tonight to appear in 50 career GP
If you didn't laugh once, I seriously question your sense of humor

Game Day 2/15/2013
I hope everyone had a fantastic Valentine's Day, but you know what time of the week it is. We finally got a split! It had been like forever since we last did that (Nov. 30th & Dec. 1st vs. St. Cloud State). Tonight is Parent's Night, there are 1,000 bag tags (whatever those are) for the early comers, and the Family Four Pack is again available this weekend.
Also, this is the last full home weekend for the departing seniors:
Chris Crowell (Captain)
Tyler Currier (Instigator...in a good way)
Alex Gellert (Stud)
Daniel Naslund (Swede...everybody loves the Swedish...well their women at least)
Scott Warner (STUD D-Man and Assistant Captain)
When these guys leave, they will leave some holes in our depth chart and locker room. Let's give them a proper send off, well you guys can, I have to go help out a friend tonight.
Click here for the link for the guys that are Scholar-Athletes, congratulations guys.

Game Day 2/8/2013 (Updated)
Yeah I know, I'm still figuring out my schedule but let's dive right in shall we. Overall it was a great weekend, we got two points via a tie and a tie, I would have much preferred a win and a loss but oh well. Kurt will not be available to make the Michigan trip, and we on the radio side will be listening to Michigan Tech's Dirk Hembroff. I believe David Tuttle is away on assignment, I forgot where. And I don't think Tuttle has ever been on the road with Kurt for any on-air broadcasts. I hope Kurt heals up, but if that means we miss him for another few weeks so be it, I'd rather him be healthy as opposed to coming back to soon for just a broadcast. Here is a piece by goseawolves.com.
We play Michigan Tech this weekend and I'm hoping for the best, potentially if Wisconsin sweeps Bemidji and we sweep MT we could have 12 points (same as Bemidji) but we would be behind them because of the head-to-head match up (1-0-1 in favor of Bemidji). I like when we can open up our style and just go down and up the ice, our boys have now shown we can hang with opponents when it's five-on-five. We have to stay out of the box, and have some fun. Don't take stupid penalties, yeah you can stick up for your teammates but don't do it in a way to get a penalty. We need points, wins, not more penalty minutes. Game times are 3:07 pm AKST and then 1:07 pm AKST.
Things to look out for
• The last eight home games MT has gone 1-5-2
• The last five games between us MT has won the last three games, and UAA has won five in a row before that, for awhile we went 6-0-2 against MT. This is opposed to the notes section in UAA's Release where it says MT has won the last 4 of 5 and us the 5 before that
• Sophomore Derek Docken has totals of 1-2-3 in 4 games against MT
• Sophomore Andrew Pettitt has amassed 0-2-2 in 2 games vs. MT
• Junior Jordan Kwas has four Power Play goals, nobody else has more than one this season
• Sophomore Kory Roy has yet to register his first collegiate goal, 0-9-9 in 46 GP
• Senior Alex Gellert needs one more assist for his career 25th
• Sophomore Scott Allen needs two more points to amass 25 career points

Game Day 2/2/2013
For those who know internet memes, I think you would appreciate that just a little bit. For those who don't, it should be pretty straight forward. Anyways we showed some grit last night, that was a great play by Scott Allen to circle the net and just throw it at the net. And again Blake Tatchell was big for us, he went 1-1-2 and was +2 for the night. I think our focus should be bringing in some guys that can compliment Blake for the future. For a good part of the game it was up and down hockey, which is great for the fans and our team looks pretty solid skating around trying to make something good happen. There were some positives but we need them consistently. CC did take over the OT around the second minute mark, but we were able to keep them off the board. Interesting to see if Kamal gets the nod again, he played very solid in my eyes. But did he play good enough for tonight's game? I don't know.

Game Day 2/1/2013
Well we face off this week against a struggling Colorado College team. If we wanna escape this season with more than one win in league play, this might be our best opportunity. I'm hoping for at least one point out of this weekend, we are now six points behind Michigan Tech and Bemidji State and we have played one more league series than the both of them. If the Hockey Gods are kind to us, we would somehow put up a fight for 11th place. But much like Bigfoot, I want to believe but just do not think that the creature could escape us thus far.
This weekend we are provided with:
I think in years past, a majority of the times attendance was actually down when they have done this or very similar promotions. Whether that be because it's near the end of the season and people realize just how bad we can be or whatever I will start keeping note of the attendance with this promotion. Also, there might be some processing fees from Ticketmaster, so be forewarned. UAA Students should be able to get free parking via a tip from Sherry, thank you for the heads up! Also; first 1,000 fans there get a Cinch Bag, or as I like to call them, gangsta backpacks. You can thank Wells Fargo for them. But if you can take advantage of this, go ahead. (I'm sure the sodas alone take up 20-30 dollars of the "$ 99") Link here.
